Chairman Mr. Cliff Donley Bertram C. Williams Scholarship Bert C. Williams was one of the Charter Esquire Members (April 5th 1948) who passed away in the summer of 2006. At the time of his passing he was the Parlimentarian Emeritus. Over the years Bert held numerous elected and appointed positions, numerous terms as President, and Board Chairman. His passion was for the Club to promote education and charitable acts that could benefit the community. He was one of the original members to establish the Scholarship & Charitable Committees. In the Fall of 2006 at a General Membership Meeting, the members voted to name the Education Scholarship, the Bertam C. Williams Scholarship. Woody Woodhouse Scholarship Legendary jazz vocalist Woody Woodhouse, who though based in Seattle since 1962, has gained national and international renowned recognition for his huskily smooth vocal delivery. Listening to Woody sing has been described as like “sipping hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night” Wood, who has melodically plied his trade with taste and integrity for 60+ years, has mentored many young musicians. The Scholarship, established in honor of Woody Woodhouse, will be awarded to deserving students as an incentive to begin or continue the post-secondary study of music with special emphasis on the study of jazz. In addition to tuition assistance, awards may be approved for private lessons or coaching and instrument rental or purchase. Furthermore, the scholarship committee will encourage and promote a range of opportunities whereby young people can be exposed to the rich diversity and complexity that is jazz. Applications are distributed for scholarships to several High School Counselors. This is our 36th annual scholarship fundraiser. There will be three fundraising events on March 21st, May 16th, and August 15th; The Esquire Club has scholarship funds available for music students that was provided by The Woody Woodhouse Foundation.
