Background Information
Bertrum Williams Scholarship - Bert C. Williams was one of the Charter Royal Esquire Members (established on April 5th 1948) who passed away in the summer of 2006. At the time of his passing he was the Parliamentarian Emeritus. Over the years Bert held numerous elected and appointed positions, numerous terms as President, and Board Chairman. His passion was for the Club to promote education and charitable acts that could benefit the community. He was one of the original members to establish the Scholarship & Charitable Committees. In the Fall of 2006 at a General Membership Meeting, the members voted to name the Education Scholarship, the Bertram C. Williams Scholarship.
Woody Woodhouse Scholarship - The Scholarship, established in honor of Woody Woodhouse (Jazz musician), is awarded to deserving students as an incentive to begin or continue the post-secondary study of music with special emphasis on the study of jazz. In addition to tuition assistance, awards may be approved for private lessons or coaching and instrument rental or purchase. Furthermore, the scholarship committee will encourage and promote a range of opportunities whereby young people can be exposed to the rich diversity and complexity that is jazz.
Skip Finley Scholarship - Robin Finley, Widow of her deceased husband Julius (Skipp) Finley, who passed in June 2007, donated $3,000.00 in 2008 to the Royal Esquire Club (REC) in his memory because he was a member of the REC. Ms. Finley requested that the REC award scholarships funds to students with an interest in degrees in aerospace engineering or computer science, because Julius Finley was an employee of the Boeing Company,
